THE BEGINNING OF SANDOWN AIRFIELD
Shanklin Flying Services, now owned by Mr E H Byrne, opened the new Sandown airfield on 161 acres of Lea Farm over the Easter holiday, and at same time announced that Spartan Air Lines had agreed to use the airfield as the base for their London to Isle of Wight service, for which they were constructing a hanger at the airfield.
