March 1916

NEW AIRFIELD at SOMERTON
By March 1916, J S White and Company had developed their aviation business to the point where they were able to use a large complex at Somerton. For manufacture, the company used a twenty acre site near Nodes Farm, Somerton, which is today used by Plessey. For flying their aircraft, Whites used a sixty acre field across the Newport road from the factory, between Nodes Farm and Three Gates road.
